The Cuban Childrens' Exodus
For the Australian friends of Michael, who are not fully conversant with the reasons behind Edmundo's expatriation from Cuba, the following YouTube clip will explain the terrible upheaval within society there 50 years ago.
Over four decades ago, Cuban parents fearing indoctrination and that the Cuban government would take away their parental authority exercised one of the most fundamental human rights: the right to choose how their children would be educated.
From December 1960 to October 1962, more than fourteen thousand Cuban youths arrived alone in the United States. What is now known as Operation Pedro Pan was the largest recorded exodus of Unaccompanied minors in the Western Hemisphere.

So nostalgic that I felt I was right there with you, especially when you were with Tia Anadelia... her emotion was palpable and I could feel the love! Wishing I had stowed away in one of your suitcases, I thank you both for sharing your trip with us!
